Veterinary TechnicianThrive Alamo Ranch
11841 Alamo Ranch Pkwy, Suite 112, San Antonio, TX 78253
Schedule: This is a full-time schedule, 4 days a week. One shift is every other Saturday from 7:45am - 6PM.
About You
You’ll play an important role in pets’ lives by providing end-to-end care for our precious patients. Your life-changing work will range from the hands-on care of facilitating outpatient treatments and performing laboratory tests, to support services including intake and discharging patients.

Role Responsibilities:
- Support veterinarians to ensure quality veterinary care, advocate for pets, and educate clients.
- With each hospital function, assist veterinarians and the medical team to maximize productivity and maintain a positive patient flow.
- Assist with appointments, surgeries, and procedures.
- Perform blood draws and place IV catheters.
- Receive, handle, and treat patients with skill, compassion, and care including accurately performing laboratory tests.
- Ability to clean and sanitize the hospital, treatment rooms, and public areas, and any other areas as assigned to ensure a safe, sanitary environment for the patients.
- Accurately dispense and administer medications under the supervision of a doctor.
- Assist in maintaining relevant, comprehensive medical records with the support of practice systems.
- Obtain relevant health history and information from clients and maintain medical charts.
- Ability to observe the animal's appearance and activity for general physical condition, obvious signs of illness, disease, and discontent.
- Regular attendance and timeliness are essential functions in order to fulfill the requirements of this position.
- Strong communication and client service skills. Considerable tact and diplomacy are required. Ability to work with clients and patients in a professional, friendly, and hospitable manner.
- Work well with all team members and ensure that your actions support the hospital, the doctors, and the practice philosophy.
- Assist with other tasks as required.
Experience and Requirements:
- Familiarity with procedures for receiving, treating, and scheduling patients, ordering medical supplies, and requesting laboratory tests.
- Experience using, caring for, and storing veterinary instruments, materials, and equipment.
- Understanding of sterilization techniques for veterinary instruments and materials.
- Ability to prepare instruments, materials, and standardized procedures used in a variety of treatments while providing tableside assistance.
- Commitment to providing excellent client and patient service, including assessing client needs, meeting quality standards, and supporting client satisfaction.
- Ability to work independently on assigned tasks as well as to accept direction on given assignments.
- Exhibit a positive attitude and a desire for continuous learning
- 2 years of veterinary experience - strong veterinary technical skills required
- CVT/LVT/RVT preferred
