Apple Country Animal Hospital | Stow, MA

Apple Country Animal Hospital is looking for an experienced Veterinary Assistant to join our collaborative, compassionate team in Stow, Massachusetts.

We're a full-service small animal hospital providing medical, surgical, dental, preventative, diagnostic, and senior care to pets in our community. Our approach is personal and relationship-driven - we want to know our patients, understand their families, and provide thoughtful care tailored to each pet.

We're looking for someone who already has experience working in a veterinary hospital and is comfortable jumping into a busy GP environment. Just as important, we want someone who communicates well, supports their teammates, and understands how much a positive client experience matters.

What You'll Be Doing

Depending on your experience and skill level, responsibilities may include:

• Assisting veterinarians and technicians during appointments and treatments
• Safely restraining and handling dogs and cats
• Collecting and preparing laboratory samples
• Assisting with blood draws and treatments
• Preparing patients and treatment areas for procedures
• Supporting radiology and diagnostic procedures
• Preparing and maintaining exam rooms and surgical areas
• Maintaining accurate patient records
• Reviewing basic care instructions and helping educate clients
• Monitoring patients and helping keep them comfortable throughout their visit
• Supporting the team wherever needed to keep the day moving smoothly

Apple Country offers a broad range of GP services, including wellness and preventative care, surgery, dentistry, internal medicine, digital radiology, in-house laboratory testing, geriatric care, behavior consultations and pain management.

What We're Looking For

• Previous veterinary hospital experience required
• Comfortable working hands-on with both dogs and cats
• Strong animal restraint and handling skills
• Excellent communication and client-service skills
• Reliable, organized, and able to work well in a busy environment
• Willing to jump in and support the team
• Interested in continuing to learn and grow clinically
• Compassionate approach to both patients and their people

REQUIREMENTS

Must be a team player and have compassion for pets and their people

Ability to multi-task

Ability to lift 50 pounds

High school diploma or equivalent

Previous experience working as a Technician Assistant is preferred but not required
