Summary
As Director for the Center for Veterinary Biologics-Inspection and Compliance (IC) you are responsible for ensuring the agency is in full compliance with the Virus Serum Toxin Act (VSTA) including the issuance, suspension, or revocation of product and establishment licenses and for permits for importation of biological products for distribution and sale.

Duties
The duties may include, but are not limited to:
*Responsible for formulating, organizing, directing, controlling, and executing a national program for inspection of veterinary biological products and facilities.
*Develops policies, plans, procedures and programs to assure compliance.
*Responsible for the inspection of foreign establishments requesting permission to distribute veterinary biological products in the United States.
*Responsible for formulating, organizing and executing a national program for inspection of containment facilities for biotechnology derived animals.
*Provides leadership in the development of complex, scientific standards for the construction and maintenance of manufacturing, testing, and storage facilities and equipment for veterinary biological products.
*Coordinates inspections with Veterinary Services and CVB leadership and reviews updated rules, policies, and test procedures for product evaluation.

*You must be a US Citizen or US National.
*Individuals who were born male after 12/31/1959 must be Selective Service registered or exempt.
*Subject to satisfactory adjudication of background investigation and/or fingerprint check.
*Successful completion of one-year probationary period, unless previously served. Refer to the Next Steps section for more information.
*Subject to one-year supervisory/managerial probationary period unless prior service is creditable. New USDA supervisors must successfully complete all components of the required training program before the end of their probationary period.

*Testing Designated Position: Selectee must submit to a urinalysis to screen for illegal drug use prior to appointment and random testing thereafter. Final appointment and continued employment is conditional on negative results for illegal drug use.
*In accordance with Office of Government Ethics regulations concerning conflict of interest, the incumbent will be required to submit a financial disclosure report within 30 days of their effective date of appointment and annually thereafter.
*All USDA employees are required to be enrolled in Continuous Vetting, which authorizes government agencies to receive notifications of criminal activity on individuals who hold low risk, public trust, or national security positions.
*An official government passport will be required.
*Travel to field locations and international locations will be required.
*Subject to unscheduled overnight details of undetermined lengths in the event of animal health emergencies or other conditions requiring immediate response, as required by the Agency.
*Occasional, infrequent assignments may require visits to secured areas, such as import centers, laboratories, etc., where protective gear will be required.
