LVTs needed for ER/Specialty Hospital in Roanoke, VA
Who and What we are:
Shenandoah Veterinary Associates is privately owned by two veterinarians, each with over 30 years experience, and offers an excellent, well planned and newly remodeled work space, geared towards teamwork and pride of the work we do in our profession. Our hospital has been designed thoughtfully for employee comfort and efficiency, meeting customer and patient needs, and with future growth and expansion planned for. Emergency and urgent care are our current focus. Plans to add boarded specialty care are in development, including future installation of an MRI, C-Scan and development of a Blood Bank program.
Our equipment is constantly expanding. We currently have a state of the art surgery suite as well as a secondary approved suite, a Seimens ultrasound (Juniper), Idexx digitial radiology, and Idexx in house lab (two Catalysts, Procyte, Sedivue, blood gases and coagulation). Our PIMS is Instinct software, and we utilize AI scribing and Vetsnap drug inventory management. We have a modern isolation ward, separate wards for critical patients and stable dog/cat specific wards. Our ICU is outfitted with Casco kennels with heat and oxygen support and well placed outlets and cubbies to minimize tripping hazards. Accommodation of your pet during your shift can be arranged and a professional janitorial service helps keep our hospital looking its best.
Our hospital is in the affluent Cave Spring region of the growing city of Roanoke, which combines small town livability with excellent schools, shopping, recreational opportunities, safety and affordability. Roanoke has a modern but small airport, with short security lines and convenient access to major hubs. We are drivable to the beach and many other major metropolitan areas. We have a 4-season climate, expansive hiking opportunities, lakes, white water rafting, horseback riding, breweries, wineries, festivals, museums, and lovely diverse cuisine and grocery store options. Antique stores delight the treasure hunter within, and our library system is excellent. While diverse, our client base tends to have a high degree of medical and secondary education.
We opened in December of 2025 and have been well received by the community, with generous Facebook responses from our clients. We have experienced continued growth. We offer limited, yet reasonable admission times with ample non-admission periods to address surgical needs and monitor complex cases. Admitted patients are monitored around the clock by our team, including the DVMs remaining on premise.
What the compensation looks like:
$28-36+/hour: Typical starting salary for the first year of employment for a licensed CVT, LVT, RVT with 3-5 years of professional experience will be $28/hour with a shift differential of an additional $8/hour for hours worked after midnight, higher salary subject to skill set and schedule. Raises will be merit-based and take account of all parts of your job performance. After a short probationary evaluation of mutual fit, and if you sign an annual contract, sign on or moving expense reimbursement can be negotiated. We offer medical, dental, vision health care, 2 weeks PTO and an employee medical care discount for declared animals of the employee. Additional pay can be earned for managerial responsibilities, recruitment of additional technical staff, and other projects, and contracts longer than a year of employment may offer a higher salary. Persons interested and/or experienced in a specialist liaison role, training role, and/or experience working with exotics will be offered a higher salary.
What is the role:
We have full and/or part time positions for VA licensed CVT, LVT, RVTs for swing and overnight shifts at this time.
We are seeking individuals with technical competency, excellent time management skills, emotional maturity, and a teamwork attitude. Your skills will be necessary in triage, patient treatment and management, including procurement of diagnostic samples and images, placing of intravenous catheters, use of infusion pumps/managing CRIs, monitoring vitals and ECG tracings, compassionate patient handling and nursing care, electronic medical record keeping and estimate generation, initiation of anesthesia, its maintenance and recovery, and more. Candidates with VTS eligibility, accreditation, or desire to pursue VTS will be given a higher priority and salary commiserate with their individual accomplishments for that specialization.

Due to our start up nature, you will have time to share your expertise with other team members, to learn from the doctors, and to help us continue improving work flows.We can be very busy at times, however, there are slow midweek shifts as well. The slower times allow any assigned managerial responsibilities to be completed during regularly scheduled shifts. Licensure in VA is required; multiple references noting your attributes regarding technical competency, ability to maintain composure under pressure; compatibility for working as a team.
