An attitude of “We are glad you are here” must be conveyed to each and every client. Clients favor us by selecting us to care for their pets, and not vice versa. This is probably the most important concept for you to remember and makes it easier to understand the importance of showing genuine concern and interest in a client's problem.

Company History
Our clinic’s story begins in 2006, when Dr. Melissa Harrer purchased the Animal Clinic of Council Bluffs from Dr. Schumacher. At that time, she ran the practice as a single-doctor clinic, building strong relationships with clients and establishing a reputation for compassionate, high-quality veterinary care.
As the practice grew, so did Dr. Harrer’s vision. In 2012, she acquired Glenwood Veterinary Clinic from Dr. Rishel and Dr. Butts. Rather than operate the clinics separately, she brought both teams together, blending their strengths and creating a unified, collaborative practice across two locations.
Today, both clinics operate with the same philosophy, offer equivalent facilities and equipment, and share a commitment to providing consistent, dependable care—no matter which location clients visit. What began as a small single-doctor practice has grown into a cohesive, family-oriented veterinary team dedicated to supporting our patients, clients, and community.
