Full Time | 24 Hour Emergency, Specialty, and General Practice
Grady Veterinary Hospital is a full service, 24 hour emergency, specialty, and general practice hospital serving the Greater Cincinnati region. We are seeking a Surgery Veterinary Credentialed Technician to join our fast paced , dynamic surgical department. This department is ideal for technicians who are eager to expand their skillset, collaborate across hospital teams, and play an integral role in patient care from pre operative intake through post operative recovery.
Position Overview
The Surgery Veterinary Credentialed Technician supports a wide range of surgical procedures, including advanced soft tissue surgeries, trauma cases, and orthopedic procedures. This role requires exceptional anesthesia and analgesia knowledge, strong technical skills, and the ability to effectively support surgeons, patients, and clients throughout the surgical process.
What You'll Do
- Manage surgery appointments, obtain patient histories, maintain accurate medical records, process invoicing, and complete discharges.
- Fill medications, enter charges accurately, and schedule appointments.
- Create patient releases and guide client conversations about treatment plans and financial expectations.
- Prepare patients for surgery, including shaving, scrubbing, and positioning; assist with intubation and radiographs.
- Perform blood draws , run or submit lab work, and ensure documentation accuracy.
- Open, turn over, and clean operating rooms; clean instruments and wrap surgical packs.
- Assist in procedures using a deep understanding of anesthesia and analgesia protocols, tailoring anesthetic plans to individual patient needs.
- Perform IV catheter placement, endotracheal intubation, and operate anesthetic equipment, ensuring proper maintenance.
- Demonstrate understanding of anesthetic considerations and how comorbidities impact perioperative management.
- Monitor anesthesia, troubleshoot complications, and intervene appropriately.
- Develop advanced anesthetic skills such as arterial line placement, epidurals, difficult airway intubation, and critical case management.
- Apply understanding of physiology and pharmacology to support anesthetic care for high risk patients.
- Inspire, teach, multitask, and function as an essential member of the surgical team.
Who You Are
- State Registered Veterinary Technician (required).
- Prior veterinary experience required ; surgery experience strongly preferred.
- Proficient in drug calculations, CRIs, and unit conversions.
- Able to work efficiently and accurately in a fast paced environment.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Flexible with work hours and able to work additional hours as needed.
- Team oriented, proactive, and committed to high quality patient care.
Schedule
- Monday: 2:00 pm 10:00 pm
-Tuesday: 9:00 am - 3:00 pm
- Wednesday: 9:00 am 3:00 pm
- Thursday: 2:00 pm 10:00 pm
- One floating 8 hour shift: Scheduled based on the hospital's needs
Compensation
$35.00 per hour
Full time | Structured weekly schedule with one floating shift
