Description
Acorn Hill Animal Hospital is seeking an experienced and motivated Senior Associate Veterinarian (DVM) to join our growing small animal practice in San Antonio, Texas. This is an excellent opportunity for a veterinarian who is ready to take the next step in their career by combining high-quality clinical medicine, mentorship, and clinical leadership in a collaborative hospital environment.
As a Senior Associate Veterinarian, you will serve as an experienced clinical resource for the veterinary team, help mentor associate veterinarians, support consistent medical standards, and work closely with the Practice Manager and Regional Operations Manager to help our hospital continue to grow.
This role is ideal for an experienced veterinarian who enjoys practicing medicine while also having a meaningful influence on team development, patient care standards, client experience, and hospital culture.
What You'll Do:
As a Senior Associate Veterinarian, you will have the opportunity to make an impact both in the exam room and throughout the hospital. This is not simply a seniority title - it's an opportunity to become a trusted clinical leader within a supportive veterinary team.
Clinical Leadership & Patient Care
- Provide exceptional, compassionate medical care to small animal patients.
- Perform comprehensive wellness examinations, diagnostics, treatment, surgery, and dentistry as appropriate to your clinical interests and experience.
- Serve as a clinical resource and mentor for associate veterinarians and veterinary support staff.
- Encourage evidence-based medicine and help promote consistent, high-quality medical standards throughout the hospital.
- Collaborate with other veterinarians on complex cases, treatment plans, diagnostics, and patient management.
- Help establish, implement, and uphold medical protocols and best practices.
- Support a culture of continuous learning, collaboration, and clinical excellence.
- Promote excellent client communication and education to strengthen long-term relationships with pet families.
Mentorship & Team Development
- Mentor veterinarians and support their continued clinical development.
- Share knowledge, experience, and best practices with associate DVMs and the broader veterinary team.
- Help identify opportunities for continuing education and professional growth.
- Serve as a positive role model for teamwork, professionalism, communication, and patient advocacy.
- Partner with hospital leadership to identify opportunities to improve workflows, patient care, and the overall team experience.
Hospital Collaboration
- Work closely with the Practice Manager and Regional Operations Manager to support hospital goals and initiatives.
- Participate in conversations around medical quality, team development, client experience, and operational improvements.
- Help foster a positive, inclusive, and growth-oriented hospital culture.
- Contribute ideas and clinical perspective as Acorn Hill Animal Hospital continues to grow.
- Support the hospital's reputation for compassionate, personalized, and high-quality veterinary care.

What We're Looking For:
We are looking for an experienced veterinarian who is confident in their medicine, passionate about mentorship, and excited to have a greater leadership presence within a veterinary hospital.
Ideal candidates will have:
- DVM or equivalent veterinary degree.
- Current Texas veterinary license or eligibility for Texas licensure.
- Several years of experience practicing small animal medicine.
- Strong clinical and diagnostic skills.
- Experience or interest in general surgery and dentistry.
- Excellent communication and client relationship skills.
- A collaborative, team-oriented approach.
- A passion for mentoring and developing other veterinarians.
- A commitment to high standards of patient care and medical excellence.
